Technical Audio Artist

Job Summary:

The tech audio team at Interleave works alongside our audio and music teams to create and maintain the tools and systems required to deliver audio and music support for our clients’ various AAA, mobile and VR/AR games.

Your focus will be on designing and integrating audio through middleware and other engine-based solutions while maintaining a smooth workflow between audio and game development teams.

This position is remote, requires a well maintained media-capable computer and a high speed internet connection.

This project will require work hours primarily between the PST and EST time zones. Candidates outside of North America who are flexible with their working hours are also welcome to apply but this is not negotiable.

On a daily basis, you may be expected to:

  • Design and implement game audio playback systems for areas such as animation, music, and gameplay

  • Collaborate with designers, programmers, and project leads to develop and implement audio content and features using middleware and game engines

  • Maintain and improve the audio pipelines, ensuring projects are organized and audio is performant in game

  • Communicate technical audio needs between engineers, designers, and producers to enhance the audio experience for projects

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 1 shipped AAA title or equivalent Indie experience

  • Passion for working closely with world-class sound designers, supporting their developing day-to-day needs for audio technology and associated tools

  • A highly self-motivated team player with the ability to dive into technical challenges and learn, adapt, and level up quickly

  • Experience with Wwise

  • Experience with Unreal Engine

  • Experience with visual scripting languages such as Unreal Blueprints

  • Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, and Q/A

  • Experience in the audio design and editing process, expertise with DAW’s

  • Experience with development tracking software such as JIRA, Leankit, Hansoft

  • Have excellent communication, documentation and organizational skills


Nice to have:

  • Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Lua or Bash

  • Experience with Max/MSP or Pure Data

  • Experience building Reaper or equivalent workflow scripts

  • Experience with FMOD Studio and/or engine native audio systems
